With a the increase of streaming in todays music market, curation and playlisting is becoming more and more important. The big players such Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer are seeing increasing competition from services like Soundcloud and YouTube Red, but just how did playlisting become so important and what can the industry to maximise the opportunity available?

Our three incredible speakers will explore the value of playlisting in today’s vibrant industry and share their own unique experiences with curation in the industry.

Eliise Cobain is the Playlist, Programming and Curation Manager of Filtr, Sony Music’s third-party playlist playlist service and has an extensive background in music as a producer at FM, Radio1/1Xtra and BBC Introducing. An expert in the Australian music scene, she also lends her hand to A&R speciailising in alt rock and sub genres and is the co-founder of House of Savages, a live event that celebrates garage, rock, punk, indie and all the little sub-genres in between.

Sam Lee has over a decade’s worth of experience in the music industry and was previously music editor at global music streaming service Deezer, where he got to know the inner workings of the streaming sector and witnessed first-hand the unstoppable growth of streaming around the world. He has a background in music journalism and radio plugging  and has recently launched his own company, Songular Music, that offers consultancy, distribution and marketing and marketing advice to independent labels looking to get onto streaming services.

Sammy Andrews is the Director of Entertainment Intelligence, an innovative company that categorises data to provide unique insights around sales, live events, playlists and social media across the entertainment industry. Sammy has a long history on the digital landscape, heading up 19 Management’s digital record division and working with everyone from the Beckham’s to Annie Lennox. Former head of digital at Cooking Vinyl, Sammy remains a champion of independent labels. Sammy has the history in artist management, concert promoiton, label – founding and consultancy of the value the digital revolution can bring to all industries, especially in music.
