Simon Turton has been involved in the corporate and private education sectors for 28 years across both Australia and the United Kingdom, with the past 20 years in senior management and advisory board positions across both countries. From 2007 to 2010, Simon held the position of national sales manager for Australia’s largest private education provider, Sugar International and prior to this, was state sales manager for Queensland’s largest Private College, Axiom College and regional Head of new business for the world’s largest IT education firm Spherion, covering Queensland and Papua New Guinea territories.
In the Autumn of 2011, Simon relocated to the United Kingdom and was appointed UK CEO of Australian based Student Acquisition firm, Acquire Learning. Within 24 months, Simon built the UK business from a handful of staff to 180 staff, recruiting 400+ students per month for public FE Colleges across the UK. In 2017, Simon semi-retired and spends most of his free time with his Spanish wife at their farm in North East Spain but enjoys travelling back-and-forth to their home in the UK to focus on advising The Notting Hill Academy of Music on business strategy and driving and maintaining their partnerships with public FE Colleges in the UK and partnerships within the Australian music education marketplace. In 2002, Simon was 1 of 6 individuals to be awarded a full scholarship to study New Venture Planning at the ANU (Australian National University) in Canberra, a scholarship program fully funded by EDS (Electronic Data Systems, the second largest IT services company in the world at that time) in recognition of his support for EDS in entering the Qld Government marketplace.
Whilst Simon no-longer participates in formal studies, he enjoys reading and researching his passions in theoretical physics, home automation, general science and technology, behavioural sciences and of course the future of music distribution.
