Ed Sheeran dominates as the biggest-selling albums and singles of 2017 so far are revealed


The Official Charts Company has unveiled its list of the biggest selling singles and albums of the year so far, with Ed Sheeran leading the way in both categories.

Sheeran, who recently announced a 2018 arena tour, occupies three of the Top 10 positions in the biggest-selling singles list, with the figures based on physical sales, downloads and streams.

Shape Of You is at No.1 and has overtaken Drake’s One Dance as the UK’s most streamed song of all time, with 184,000,000 streams since its release in January. The track has been downloaded 717,000 times and has a combined sales figure of 2.6m.

Castle On The Hill is the year’s second biggest song, boasting a sales figure of 1.5m, while Galway Girl (1,023,151 sales) is in fourth spot. Elsehwere in the Top 5, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s Despacito places third with 1.2m combined sales, while Rag’N’Bone Man’s breakout hit Human is at No.5 (907,000 sales).

In the albums list, Sheeran’s ÷, which received a recent boost after his Glastonbury headline set, has a combined sales figure of 2,000,985, comprising 1,215,636 physical sales, 370,099 downloads and 415,000 streams. Sheeran’s X is at No.5, behind Rag’N’Bone Man’s Human (668,000 sales), Now That’s What I Call Music 96 (508,096 sales) and Drake’s More Life (224,000 sales).
